Bakhoor - The Alluring Fragrance
Bakhoor, also known as Bukhoor, is a type of aromatic incense that's cherished for its rich fragrance. It's crafted from wood chips, primarily Agarwood (Oud), which is famous for its deep scent, although other woods like sandalwood or cedarwood are also used. These wood chips are soaked in fragrant oils and natural resins, often combined with musk for a rich base note and floral essences to add a touch of sweetness.
To release its delightful aroma, bakhoor is traditionally burned on hot coals using a special burner called a mabkhara. This process produces fragrant smoke that fills the air with its enchanting scent. In essence, bakhoor is a fragrant blend of wood chips, resins, and essential oils. It's commonly used to scent living spaces and is sometimes employed for aromatherapy purposes as well.
